A TruBridge externship in healthcare data analytics, focused on working with public datasets, statistical analysis, and dashboard-ready data preparation.
During my externship with TruBridge, I engaged with real healthcare data to extract meaningful insights. I explored how data analytics and AI can enhance decision-making in healthcare, focusing on social determinants of health. This experience involved building foundational knowledge in data analytics and honing my research question while utilizing Python for analysis.
I defined a research question linking state-level road infrastructure to health outcomes, assembled a catalog of data attributes and sources for a multi-state dataset, and cleaned a US counties health-outcomes table to zero missing values and zero duplicates while documenting high-missingness columns.
I defined and updated a research question, listed steps and sources used to find county- and tract-level health, transportation, and population datasets, and selected the CDC PLACES dataset as the best match for combined analysis.
I gathered and curated 14 public datasets (CDC PLACES, ACS 5-year, EPA Smart Location Database, BTS, County Health Rankings, etc.), documented geography and key variables, and produced a spreadsheet mapping each source to how it supported analysis of transit, walkability, and health outcomes.
