The externship reproduced an operational IoT deployment and required building attacks and defenses against its devices. The work involved enumerating devices, testing spoofing and replay techniques, and implementing countermeasures such as TLS and mTLS. Deliverables included attack demonstrations, defensive configurations, and a security playbook handed to the host.
I mapped the Grand Marina IoT assets, traced attack paths, applied STRIDE to classify threats, and delivered a threat-model PDF plus a concise summary card.
The module presented the Grand Marina system, I mapped assets and attack paths, applied STRIDE to classify threats, and produced a threat-model PDF and card as the final deliverable.
The module work set up Google Colab notebooks, parsed JSON and flattened nested records with pandas, cleaned a loan dataset, implemented control-flow and function exercises, and produced a sensor log generator. Deliverables included runnable Colab notebooks and a sensor log file.
The project connected a sensor publisher to a Mosquitto broker and a dashboard subscriber. I published JSON readings every 2 seconds on hydroficient/grandmarina/sensors/main-building/readings and showed real-time dashboard updates and screenshots of the running pipeline.
