During my externship with Mangusta Capital, I delved into the venture capital landscape, focusing on raising funds for an AI-focused investment strategy. I conducted thorough research on potential investors, crafted personalized outreach messaging, and created a comprehensive LP Profile Deck to strategically position Mangusta in front of high-potential Limited Partners.
What I did
Throughout this externship, I undertook several projects that enhanced my understanding of investor relations in venture capital. Below are the key tasks I accomplished, showcasing my contributions to Mangusta Capital's fundraising strategy.
Project 1: Understanding Mangusta’s Investment Thesis
I researched and analyzed Mangusta Capital's investment thesis, focusing on its vertical AI strategy. By reviewing fund materials and the current portfolio, I gained insights into the unique elements of Mangusta's approach and how the team’s background lends credibility to potential investors.
Project 3: Identifying and Profiling High-Potential LPs
I compiled a curated list of high-potential Limited Partners suitable for Mangusta’s investment strategy. This included researching global individuals and family offices, defining key characteristics of a 'good fit,' and developing concise profiles to guide Mangusta in its outreach efforts.
Project 5: Drafting the Final Presentation
I synthesized all research and insights into a cohesive LP Profile Deck. This deck highlighted Mangusta’s narrative and showcased the most promising LP targets, combining strategic storytelling with compelling visual design to facilitate effective presentations.
Project 2: Exploring Funds Similar to Mangusta
I identified and researched venture capital firms with similar focuses to Mangusta, such as vertical AI and application-layer startups. This involved uncovering which limited partners were backing these funds, providing valuable insights into investor preferences and helping to target the right LPs.
Project 4: Crafting Personalized LP Outreach Messaging
I crafted a personalized outreach strategy for engaging potential LPs. By analyzing successful VC messaging and drafting tailored outreach communications, I ensured that Mangusta's value proposition resonated with various investor types, enhancing engagement prospects.

I gained hands-on experience in value investing through a deep analysis of leading stocks with guidance from seasoned investor Yinan Zhao. This externship honed my skills in financial modeling using Excel, interpreting alternative data, evaluating market trends, and crafting compelling investment recommendations, essential for a career in finance.
What I'm doing
During this externship, I engaged in several key projects that enhanced my understanding of equity analysis and investment strategies. Below are the specific tasks I completed that demonstrate my applied skills in financial modeling and stock evaluation.
Project 1: Pick Your Stock
I analyzed the Russell 2000 Value index to identify undervalued companies suitable for investment. Utilizing AI tools like Claude and Perplexity, I selected a company for in-depth research and developed an interactive Stock Card to present my findings.
Step 1: What Is a 10-K and Where Does It Live?
I gained a comprehensive understanding of the 10-K filing, focusing on the four critical sections that analysts prioritize. I successfully located the 10-K for my chosen Russell 2000 Value company, enhancing my ability to extract relevant financial information.
