About me

Marine conservation graduate student using research, GIS, and environmental data analysis to investigate conservation, climate, and ecosystem management challenges.

I am Forrest Biddle, an environmental graduate pursuing an M.S. in Marine Conservation Biology. I combine marine conservation training with GIS and data analysis skills, including QGIS, R and Python, spatial analysis, and data visualization. I have hands-on lab and customer experience from roles as a Donor Center Technician and a Customer Service Associate. I am focused on building my resume and moving into conservation roles that use data to inform decisions.

Overview

Evaluated the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary as a marine protected area, examining its ecological significance, governance, management zones, protection levels, fishing restrictions, climate-related threats, and stakeholder interests. The project explored how management decisions influence conservation outcomes across a complex, multi-use marine ecosystem.

What I've accomplished

Conducted an in-depth evaluation of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, analyzing governance, management zones, protection levels, fishing regulations, ecological and climate threats, and stakeholder interests. Synthesized scientific and management information to assess how conservation strategies support long-term ecosystem protection.

Environmental Tech Lab Startup Sourcing for NYC's Water Utility

Partnerships StrategyStrategyEntrepreneurship

Overview

This externship examined how an environmental tech lab sources and evaluates startups for a large water utility. The work mapped a startup sourcing funnel, cataloged relevant terms, and documented the components of vendor evaluation used across the four-week program. The deliverables recorded a glossary and a structured sourcing workflow.

Environmental Tech Lab Startup Sourcing for NYC's Water Utility

What I've accomplished

I produced a structured sourcing workflow and a project glossary, and I documented the criteria and steps used to evaluate potential vendors for an asset condition and failure-prevention challenge.

Project breakdown

During Week 1 I reviewed the ETL challenges, chose Challenge 2 (Asset Condition & Failure Prevention) and drafted an opening slide that stated my lane as water supply and environmental field monitoring, described the problem and why earlier detection mattered, and set an initial focus on…
