The project prototyped an AI document pipeline combining OCR, LLMs, and retrieval techniques to extract structured data from pharmaceutical PDFs. Work included written summaries of Transformer-style encoding and generation, Colab notebooks that cleaned tabular and JSON data, image preprocessing for OCR, and scripts that parsed multi-page SDFs into JSON with field values and bounding boxes.
I produced explanatory notes on how LLMs encode and generate text, delivered runnable Colab notebooks that cleaned tabular/JSON data and preprocessed scanned images, and parsed multi-page SDFs into JSON with extracted fields and bounding-box coordinates.
The submission summarized how LLMs encoded inputs into numbers, passed them through parameters (like neural connections), and produced text by predicting the next token repeatedly, describing training by adjusting weights on errors.
The module work described preparing structured data and scanned images for AI. I cleaned tabular and JSON data with Pandas and Python, applied text normalization, and ran image preprocessing (denoising, grayscale, cropping) to improve OCR inputs; deliverables were Colab notebooks and processed…
I processed multi-page SDFs with PyMuPDF to locate fields using bounding boxes and regex. I produced JSON listing dates, vendor names, document types, revision numbers, and a parsed table with rows and cells, including page and bbox coordinates.
