Here’s what the data says: put a pin in Bangkok. Draw a five-hour flight radius around it. You just circled half the world's population. And half of those people are kids under five, an age where survival itself isn't guaranteed. Five isn't an arbitrary number: it's the line researchers use as a proxy for a country's overall health, because almost every preventable childhood death, driven by a bad water source, poor air quality, or an infection nobody caught in time, happens before it. Clear five, and the odds of reaching adulthood jump astronomically. Don't, and the cause almost always traces back to poverty, healthcare access, environmental risk, or nutrition, something that could have been mapped, measured, and prevented in time. That's the gap this externship exists to close: turning scattered, messy public data into a specific, defensible answer about what's actually driving that risk in a given place, and pass it to the people at ARCeH who want to know about it.

Deliverables included an inventory of the six raw tables, a dim_product schema that unified fragmented product data, campaign-level ROI calculations linked to $37K Meta spend, cleaned checkout metrics, and denormalized dashboard tables. I inventoried all six raw tables with five exploratory SQL queries, designed a dim_product to unify four spreadsheets, calculated CTR/CPC/ROI tying $37K Meta spend to $61K sales, produced a cleaned abandonment rate, and built denormalized dashboard tables plus a static HTML dashboard.

The externship converted dispersed public health and environmental datasets into analytical evidence about drivers of under-five mortality around a specified region. The work evaluated available data sources, defined appropriate correlational methods, and documented analytical constraints and assumptions used when linking environmental and socioeconomic indicators to child health outcomes.
I identified CDC childhood cancer counts and EPA Superfund site data, evaluated each with a dataset fitness checklist, documented suppression in small cancer counts, and committed to a state-level join covering 2001–2020.
