Overview

The externship examined BeReal-style user experience across discovery, capture, engagement, validation, and exit. Deliverables included a spreadsheet journey map, a documented competitor feature benchmark, an idea-scored PRD-lite, and an interactive GitHub Pages prototype of RealRewind. The work also ran a moderated focus group and recorded usability observations.

What I've accomplished

I delivered a spreadsheet-style five-stage journey map, a documented competitor benchmark tying features to habitual opens and retention, a PRD-lite plus idea scoring, an interactive RealRewind prototype on GitHub Pages, and recorded findings from a seven‑participant focus group.

Project breakdown

I analyzed BeReal's user flow, defined five journey stages, and documented what users did, thought, and felt at each stage. The submission produced a spreadsheet-style journey map showing triggers, capture, feed engagement, validation, and exit stages.

The work analyzed BeReal’s product features, documenting triggers (daily randomized notification), social mechanics (friends feed and RealMojis), and archive systems (Memories). It explained how each feature increased habitual opens, interaction, and long-term retention.

During the externship I mapped the flow, wrote a PRD-lite, scored ideas, then built and deployed an interactive web prototype of RealRewind on GitHub Pages. The prototype simulated loading, error, layout toggles, and sharing states to demonstrate the full user experience.

I planned and facilitated a 35–40 minute focus group for a BeReal prototype, recruited 7 participants, ran a prototype walkthrough and group discussion, recorded usability notes and 1–5 ratings, and produced observations on navigation, labels, and suggested UI fixes.
