I recently completed my Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and am eager to begin my professional career in geopolitical research, policy analysis, and international security. I am particularly interested in how political instability, security challenges, and policy decisions shape relations between countries. My academic background has strengthened my ability to analyse complex issues, evaluate different perspectives, and assess their wider regional and international implications.

This dissertation examines why Mexican drug cartels remain resilient despite decades of state and international intervention. Through a comparative analysis of four major cartels, it explores how organizational resilience, community legitimacy, and securitization sustain their power, highlighting the limitations of traditional enforcement and global governance.
Conducted a comparative analysis of four major Mexican cartels, examining the structural, organizational, social and economic factors behind their resilience. Applied theories of International Relations to assess why decades of Mexican, US and international interventions have struggled to dismantle them.
Concluded that cartel resilience stems not from a lack of intervention, but from governance frameworks that address a multidimensional problem selectively. Effective responses must go beyond enforcement to address structural conditions, community legitimacy, diversified criminal economies and weaknesses in international cooperation.
