Build, hack, and defend real IoT infrastructure, then hand your security playbook to an actual company. You’ll launch realistic cyberattacks, from spoofing and replay attacks to unauthorized shutoffs, and implement defenses like TLS and mTLS.
The externship worked with a simulated smart-device deployment for a marina, exploring its networked sensors and actuators and the protocols that connect them. The project mapped device roles and communication flows, then used that inventory to plan attack and defense exercises. Deliverables included an asset inventory and a threat-surface analysis.
I produced a written threat model and a visual threat-model card that documented assets, identified STRIDE-based threats, and traced likely attack paths through the marina system.
The project reviewed the Grand Marina system, applied STRIDE to identify threats, mapped assets and attack paths, and produced a written threat model plus a visual threat-model card as deliverables.
