A data-driven externship with the Center for Improving Youth Justice, focused on analyzing juvenile-facility records to surface measurable patterns in incidents, staffing, demographics, and outcomes.
The externship processed CIYJ's multi-decade juvenile facility dataset, combining survey responses, incident reports, demographic records, and outcome measures. The work defined appropriate analytical approaches and established the limits of correlational analysis. It produced a documented framework for how those approaches apply to the dataset.
I established the analytical foundation for later empirical work, clarifying what correlational methods can reveal and where they fall short before proceeding to hands-on analysis.
