An HP Tech Ventures externship focused on methods for sourcing deals, evaluating early-stage tech startups, and producing investment-ready analysis.
The externship taught structured approaches to discover and assess early-stage technology startups and to synthesize that work into investment-style analysis. The work covered market opportunity assessment, due diligence practices, and drafting investment memos for candidate companies. Deliverables included sourced deal leads and analytical write-ups.
I screened startups against an investment thesis, identified three candidate companies using AI and search tools, and compiled a comparative spreadsheet with profiles, funding history, employee counts, industries, and headquarters.
