  • Research Analyst - MSc project - Multiple Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria from Clinical Specimens
Research Analyst - MSc project - Multiple Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria from Clinical Specimens

Analyzed clinical specimen data from 100 hospitalized patients with surgical wound infections to support research into multidrug-resistant bacteria. Used Microsoft Excel to organize, clean, and analyze clinical microbiology data for research interpretation and reporting. Identified patterns showing high levels of antibiotic resistance among bacterial isolates, supporting evidence-based interpretation of infection-related risks.

Research Analyst - BSc Project - Plasmid Profile Analysis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Conducted research on plasmid profiles of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from surgical wound infections. Analyzed 100 raw clinical specimens exhibiting multidrug resistance using Excel-based tracking and data interpretation. Supported laboratory investigation of plasmids as potential contributors to multidrug resistance in clinical isolates.

Data Analytics Externship with Center for Improving Youth Justice

Somewhere in America right now, a kid is sitting in a juvenile facility where staff outnumber youth two-to-one — and it's still not safe. Meanwhile, another facility with fewer staff but better training has half the assaults. A teenager of color is spending longer in room confinement than a white peer for the same behavior. A younger kid with no family contact is spiraling into more serious incidents with no one connecting the dots. CIYJ has 20+ years of data that captures all of it — youth and staff surveys, incident reports, demographic records, outcome measures — and they need analysts who can find the signal in the noise. In this externship, you will dig into that dataset to test the assumptions juvenile justice has operated on for decades, surface the correlations that actually matter, and deliver findings that go straight into CIYJ's advocacy work with state agencies and legislatures. This isn't a practice dataset. The insights you find could change how a facility operates — and what happens to the kids inside it.

Overview

During my externship with the Center for Improving Youth Justice, I engaged with a comprehensive dataset that highlights the complexities of juvenile justice. My work focused on uncovering critical insights related to youth experiences in facilities, analyzing correlations within the data, and delivering findings that could influence advocacy efforts and operational practices within the juvenile

What I've accomplished

In this project, I undertook several critical steps to analyze the CIYJ dataset. Below are the key tasks I completed to establish a foundation for effective data analysis and to familiarize myself with the specific data I would be working with.
