During my data analytics externship with the Center for Improving Youth Justice, I examined multi-year juvenile-facility data to explore safety conditions experienced by confined youth. The project combined data-quality review, focused research-question development, visualization, interpretation, and practitioner-oriented communication.
I created a shared exploration spreadsheet covering five CIYJ data files, documenting variable definitions, initial quality checks, cleaning questions, and prioritized next steps. I then examined reported fear for safety against assault and fight rates, created a scatter plot, and found no clear linear relationship.

For my MSc research in Medical Microbiology, I investigated antibiotic susceptibility patterns and plasmid profiles in multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from approximately 100 hospitalized patients with surgical-wound infections.
I organized, cleaned, and interpreted the research data in Microsoft Excel while supporting antimicrobial susceptibility testing, plasmid-profile analysis, and scientific reporting. The project strengthened my capabilities in clinical microbiology, research documentation, data quality, and antimicrobial-resistance analysis.
I found that continuous expression of multidrug resistance associated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa was due to acquisition of resistant plasmid DNA.

I maintained structured specimen and isolate records in Excel, compared antimicrobial susceptibility patterns, and interpreted plasmid-profile findings using microbiology methods. The project developed my foundation in clinical microbiology, research-data organization, laboratory investigation, and scientific interpretation.
I found that plasmid genes could course multidrug resistance in bacteria isolates.
