Overview

During my externship at Amazon, I focused on enhancing employee retention strategies by analyzing real-world employee reviews. By extracting insights from these reviews, I aimed to design effective, persona-driven strategies for Learning Ambassadors, ultimately addressing the high turnover rates among new hires before Day 90.

What I've accomplished

I produced a role-by-role spreadsheet of AFC positions and exported cleaned, analysis-ready CSVs of Glassdoor and YouTube text with tokenized keywords and sentiment scores.

Project breakdown

I mapped AFC roles, listing responsibilities, who each role worked closely with, common tools, and why each role mattered. The submission produced a role-by-role spreadsheet capturing Learning Ambassadors, pickers, packers, stowers, water spiders, and area managers.

I collected Glassdoor reviews and YouTube transcripts, cleaned transcription errors and duplicate entries, added a sentiment column, removed low-value columns, and exported an analysis-ready CSV and cleaned spreadsheets for further analysis.

I cleaned Glassdoor and YouTube text, tokenized keywords, added sentiment scores, and compared platforms. The analysis showed Glassdoor emphasized pay, benefits, and work environment, while YouTube focused on daily shifts and was more positive.

The project combined cleaned employee feedback, keyword-based Python theme tagging, sentiment summaries, and a 5-Whys root cause tree. I produced a themed summary table with representative quotes and a root-cause tree that traced onboarding and HR friction to inconsistent post-onboarding support.

What I've accomplished

I explored funding, valuation, revenue, profitability, and market share data by segmenting companies into profitable and unprofitable groups, then designed clear, executive-ready visualizations in Flourish and Canva. I structured the findings using the SCQA consulting framework, translating technical analysis into practical recommendations that business stakeholders could quickly understand.

Outcome

My analysis showed that profitable and unprofitable startups raised nearly identical amounts of funding, while competitive market position was the strongest indicator of profitability. More importantly, I learned that effective consulting begins with questioning assumptions rather than validating them. Going forward, I'll apply this mindset by approaching business problems with curiosity.

What I've accomplished

Working closely with a teammate, I translated technical findings into clear, executive-ready recommendations and co-developed a client-facing report that prioritized remediation strategies. The engagement was an internal penetration test across several hosts, with testing focused on discovery, attack, and reporting.

Outcome

I helped identify five critical and three high-risk vulnerabilities across multiple enterprise environments and developed prioritized remediation strategies to reduce organizational risk. This project strengthened my ability to connect technical findings to business impact and communicate recommendations that support informed decision-making and long-term security improvements.
