During my externship at Energy Innovation Capital, I harnessed AI-driven tools to identify and analyze startups in the energy and sustainability sectors. This process culminated in crafting investor-ready reports that effectively communicated potential investment opportunities, demonstrating my ability to think like a venture capitalist.
In my journey through this externship, I engaged in several hands-on projects that honed my skills in startup sourcing, due diligence, data synthesis, and investment memo creation. Below are the key projects I completed, showcasing my contributions and insights gained.
Project 1: Sourcing Startups
I sourced promising early-stage startups by employing targeted strategies and exploring various online platforms. I evaluated five potential startups, selecting the most suitable one for deeper analysis based on alignment with the venture capital investment thesis.
Project 3: Synthesizing: From Diligence Data to Actionable Insights
I synthesized due diligence findings into actionable insights through detailed reports covering market opportunity, technology, leadership, and competitive landscape. I created a Synergy Report to illustrate the alignment between the VC fund and the startup.
Project 2: Doing Due Diligence
I conducted comprehensive due diligence on my selected startup, gathering critical data including company profiles, market size, and competitor positioning. This analysis assessed the leadership team and financials, providing insights into the startup's growth potential.
Project 4: Creating an Investment Memo
I produced a concise 3-slide investment memo that integrated my research and insights. Utilizing Claude for initial structure and refining the content with ChatGPT, I highlighted the startup's strategic strengths and market positioning, making a compelling case for investment.

I honed my skills in statistical modeling, trend analysis, and AI application to improve healthcare outcomes and decision-making. I developed an interactive data dashboard that visualized key insights derived from my analysis. Furthermore, I enhanced my communication skills by crafting and delivering a video presentation to showcase my research findings.

I collected relevant data from public sources and employed large language models (LLMs) to explore potential analyses. The data was meticulously cleaned and pre-processed to ensure readiness for subsequent analytical tasks.
